ABOUT ME

Hi there! I'm Derrick, and I think I'm pretty cool. I'm a student from Singapore Polytechnic, Diploma in Chemical Engineering, under class DCHE/FT/2B/03.

I'm an avid gamer and I have a pretty looooooooong list of games I play(especially on mobile) but most of the time, you will find me playing either VALORANT(PC) or BRAWLHALLA(Nintendo Switch).

I also love music. If I didn't find a love for science and not make it to this course, I'd probably be in a music production course. I love to play instruments such as the BASS guitar, drums and ukulele. I hope that someday, I can become someone as talented as Jacob Collier, a Grammy Award winner, multi-instrumentalist and totally cool guy.

This blog is a part of the module CP5070 Chemical Product Design and Development(CPDD in short), which is what we like to call "documentation". For such a module, where I get to learn many different skills, it is extremely important for me to document all the activites/tasks completed simply because I am very forgetful. The blog is a place for me to pen down thoughts which I tend to lose and remember key concepts/techniques that are crucial to becoming a chemical engineer.

Also, another reason why documentation is so important is because it holds a weightage of 30% of the entire module. But let's just say, this isn't the only reason why I would be very motivated - to the point where I pour out my heart and soul into the blog - to regularly update this blog.

I have a few goals I hope to achieve by the end of the semester:

Personal Goal #1 - I want to be proficient in using CAD softwares such as Fusion360.

Strats to achieve this goal: Every week, watch a Fusion360 tutorial on YouTube and attempt to replicate the design in the tutorial video. This way, I can learn new techniques and shortcuts that I can use whenever I need to use Fusion360. [seems kinda ambitious but whatever it takes man...]

I will know if I have met this goal if I, by the end of the semester, am able to teach my sister how to design her own name tag using Fusion360.

Personal Goal #2 - I want to be able to manage my time well, especially because I know how much of a procrastinator I am.

Strats to achieve this goal: Create and constantly update a To-Do List and to complete it during set timeslots (usually free periods) for each task.

I will know if I have met this goal if I, by the end of the semester, feel less stressed and feel more GOOD about myself.[I know that this indicator can be very subjective, but I currently haven't thought of a way to objectively recognise if/when I no longer am a chronic procrastinator]

Now, onto the group that I am in.

The group consists of me(duhh), Haziq and Dorson, whom I have been group mates with last semester. And since we have been in the same group, we will stick to the Group Ground Rules agreed on last semester which is:

⤐ be present - better late than never

⤐ doing something is better than nothing

⤐ all opinions should be heard and considered

⤐ respect one another and work together

This should be all you need to know about me. If you have read this far, thanks! If not, well you wouldn't even know what i would have to say to you so what's the point?

Aight, go read my pages!
